Paint and collage work on white paper. Original work is A4 size, but the digital version (shown) is available to be printed in various sizes. This work is part of an ongoing series of paint and collage on either white paper or black paper. The series will probably amount to about 100 works when complete.
A photo of me in the studio while working on 'Courting the Young Progressives' in 2014. This work is from a ten part series, 'Apostasy'. Someone once remarked that they like the large amount of white in this painting, as it makes a less busy painting. Making an all over painting was what I was aiming for, but yes it does work well with more areas of nothing. Although, I did use areas of white in each 'Apostasy" painting, they were a lot smaller, and were meant to be flashes of white - like windows through the painting. Currently, my 'Twenty one' series works on a principle of having more white to counter the complexity of the coloured areas. Either way it's good to experiment and push painting techniques in various ways. In fact, the differences between the 'Twenty One' series and the 'Apostasy' series are quite pronounced.
