In the studio while working on 'Courting the Young Progressives' in 2014. This work is from a ten part series, 'Apostasy'. Someone once remarked, that they like the painting with the white, being not so busy. Although, I used sections of white in each 'Apostasy" painting, they were a lot smaller. Currently, my 'Twenty one' series works on a principle of having more white to counter the complexity of the coloured areas. Either way it's good to experiment and push painting techniques in various ways. In fact, the differences between the 'Twenty One' series and the 'Apostasy' series are quite pronounced. The temptation is to relax into comfortable patterns of working and typical well used personal techniques. But hopefully step by step change comes.
